Replacing the Spring Clips
Upholstery parts secured by plug pins and spring clips
- For Sirona dental units, models M1 Model 90/94/96 and Sirona E (seat and backrest upholstery) and C/C+/M1+/ProFeel+ (wide backrest upholstery), snap locks are used for securing the upholstery onto the upholstery carriers of the chair base.
- The fastening of the upholstery in this system is done by a clamp lock. The upholstery part features a plug pin (1) which snaps into the spring clip (2) (snap-fit recess) on the dental unit's upholstery receptacle when the upholstery is attached.
- WARNING! Defective plug pins in the upholstery carrier cannot be replaced! Handle with care to avoid damage.
Avoiding Damage to the Spring Clips and Plug Pins
- Ensure before assembly that the plug pins on the back of the upholstery are correctly aligned! Should this not be the case, they can be turned into the correct orientation by hand. This prevents damage to the counterparts in the upholstery carrier (spring clips).
- Place the upholstery onto the upholstery receptacle and align the plug pins (1) directly over the counterparts (2) (spring clips). Check beforehand with a glance into the gap between the upholstery and the upholstery receptacle whether the plug pins are aligned directly over the spring clips.
- The spring clip in the dental unit's upholstery receptacle can be pre-damaged by incorrect attempts during upholstery assembly and must therefore be replaced. A damaged lock leads to an insecure hold of the upholstery.
- The DKL spring clips for screwing into the chair base are an equivalent replacement for the original clamp locks (Manufacturer Part No. 2984318) and ensure a secure and firm fit of your upholstery.
- Replacement is uncomplicated: simply loosen the two screws of the old spring clip on the upholstery base and firmly screw in the new spring clip.
- IMPORTANT: When assembling the upholstery, ensure that the plug pins on the back of the cushion are correctly aligned and that the plug pins of the upholstery parts are correctly aligned over the spring clips before pressing in, to avoid deforming or damaging them again (see above "Avoiding Damage to the Spring Clips and Plug Pins").
TIP! Order spare spring clips as a precaution, so you have a replacement if needed.
